US Law Shield – Why I Became a Member

As someone who has carried a firearm legally in Texas since 2009, and it wasn’t until late 2020 that I made the decision to become a member of US Law Shield. A decision that was long overdue! Two specific incidents led me to this decision.

The first was a road rage incident on I-35 in Fort Worth. My two daughters and I decided to jump in the truck and head to downtown Fort Worth to do some early Christmas shopping. When we were stopped in a sea of red brake lights, then there was a loud BANG! An enraged driver had shattered the rear window of my truck. Unsure of whether he had done so by shooting my truck or using another weapon, I quickly exited the truck with my firearm and proceeded to the rear to identify the situation. Fortunately, the road rage perpetrator had no visible weapon, I holstered my firearm, called the police and he was later charged and jailed. The point is, this could have gone so many different directions and I potentially could have been forced to use my firearm to defend my family and myself.

The second was my daughter's 21st birthday, just a month after the road rage incident. She had a passion for firearms and planned to become a licensed handgun owner upon her 21st birthday. During her LTC training, a representative from US Law Shield talked about the importance of having legal representation in the event that one has to use their firearm. The representative cited the Jack Wilson church shooting incident in White Settlement as an example of the need for legal representation. He said, “make no mistake about, if you use your firearm, whether in self-defense or not, the DA and/or Grand Jury will decide whether charges are warranted or not and you WILL need an attorney”. This statement solidified my decision to become a member of US Law Shield, and before the representative finished talking, I immediately filled out the membership form for myself and my daughter.

I now have peace of mind that US Law Shield has my family’s back if we are ever in a situation where we have to defend ourselves.

Proud Dad!
