The Brief History of GLOCK

Gaston Glock was an Austrian engineer and businessman who founded GLOCK in 1963, producing consumer goods out of wood, polymer, and metal with only three employees! The company first started developing military products in the 1970s, such as knives and grenade parts.

In the 1980s, GLOCK revolutionized the handgun market with the semi-auto GLOCK pistol, designed for the Austrian military. Its innovative polymer frame and action system set It apart from other pistols available on the market.

GLOCK pistols were engineered for reliability. They feature internal safeties and fewer parts, making them durable and easier to maintain. After rigorous testing, the GLOCK 17 was adopted by the Austrian military in 1983. By the mid-1980s, GLOCK expanded to the U.S. market, rapidly gaining popularity with both law officials and civilians.

GLOCK has continued innovation, introducing new generations of handguns and features such as accessory rails, various calibers, and improved ergonomics. The historic GLOCK brand continues to lead the firearms industry as a significant presence in the global market.
